Bro.Kat studio was established in 2010 by Roma Skuza and Bogna Polańska. Our work encompasses architecture, interior design, scenography, exhibitions, installations and products. Our projects have received awards and honourable mentions in several competitions. Moreover, they were written about both in foreign and domestic magazines. We are experienced in cooperating with private clients, companies as well as public institutions. In our work we search for functional, non-standard and surprising solutions. The projects are run in cooperation with proven contractors and we also actively participate in realizing the investments.
Name of our studio is a transformation of our names (Bogna, Roma) and the city in which we live and work, i.e. Katowice. The combination makes up bro.Kat (also Polish for brocade) that may be associated with something shiny and decorative. Brocade is for us a direct reference to Silesian “black gold” – hard coal. In the old days, hard coal has constituted a foundation for the region’s affluence, however, nowadays its role as a fossil fuel decreases and we discover it anew in our design activities as an innovative building, interior and design material.
