Our hard coal jewellery at an exhibition in the National Art Museum of China in Beijing

Our “Hochglance” in Beijing at the exhibition titled “From Sources to Inspiration: Ethnic Motifs in Polish Design” in the National Art Museum of China (NAMOC). The exhibition is organized by the State Ethnographic Museum.

We had a chance to say a word about what we do in a new book ‘New Silesians. City, design, identity’.

Silesia is… unobvious, imperfect, complex, contrast. Zofia Oslislo-Piekarska’s new book is a collection of interviews with activists, artists, architects, ethnographers, art historians, culture experts, musicians and designers who change the region by their art and design. The book is a research attempt of semantic design inspired by silesian culture and heritage. Recently semantic design had a significant influence on framing the local identity.

Honourable mention in ‘must have’ poll for our hard coal and silver jewellery!

‘must have’ is a poll, in which the best Polish implementation, coming from Polish designers and producers, reflecting the most important trends in Polish design are awarded. It is a gratuitous quality label, which may be used by Polish companies both nationally and internationally. It was created to popularise good Polish design and consequently, to promote native business and designers. ‘must have’ is a peculiar consumers’ recommendation – it is worth having the awarded object.

‘Hochglance’ in Brazil! Our hard coal jewellery at the exhibition ‘THE SPIRIT OF POLAND’ during Sao Paulo Design Weekend

The exhibition was presented during the biggest Brazilian festivals devoted to modern design, i.e. Sao Paulo Design Weekend Project, and is a continuation of ‘The Spirit of Poland’ initiative, pioneered at grassroots by creators of industrial design, whose aim is to introduce values and potential of works of Polish designers to international audiences. The exhibits were chosen in connection with the idea: spirit/soul of a material that in turn originated in the cycle ‘The Spirit of Poland’. The set of exhibits included work with natural resources and various types of treatments created by humans. An important part of choosing the products was a relation between the manual work and computer-aided technology.
